Theodore Carl Albrecht, affectionately known as "Ted," was born on March 21, 1937, in New Hampton, Iowa. He passed away on April 19, 2025, at his home in Van Meter, surrounded by his adoring family.
Ted enjoyed a distinguished career, initially serving as a comptroller at M&M Livestock Products. He then ventured into entrepreneurship by owning a paint and wallpaper store in Clarion. In 1980, he made a pivotal move with his wife Beth to Van Meter, where he became the owner of multiple H&R Block locations in Adel, Winterset, Creston, and Corning. Throughout his 35 years at H&R Block, Ted demonstrated dedication to his work and developed lasting relationships within the communities he served.
A graduate of New Hampton High School, Ted furthered his education at Gates Business College in Waterloo. His commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth remained a hallmark of his character.
Ted's family life was a source of immense pride for him. He cherished every moment spent with his wife Mary E. (Beth) Floden, whom he married in June of 1966, and took great joy in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Beth) Albrecht; son, Ted (Megan) Albrecht Jr.; daughter, Johanna (Hang Nong) Albrecht; daughter-in-law, Vickie Albrecht; grandchildren, Matthew Hoover, Theron & Aurora Albrecht, Clayton Albrecht, and Kyle (Chelsea) Albrecht; and great-grandchildren, Paizley, Jackson, Jayde, Hadley, and Olivia.
Ted's legacy also includes those who preceded him in death: his parents, Otto and Renata Albrecht; his son, Eric Albrecht; and his siblings, Otto Jr., Robert, John, and Ruth Moeller.
In respect to his contributions and the deep connections he fostered, friends and family are invited to honor his memory during the visitation on April 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1195 Prairieview Avenue, Van Meter, IA 50261. A family graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Trinity Church Cemetery, adjacent to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Ted's warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for his family will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
