Robert Charles Glenn II, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a steadfast patriot, passed away on March 14, 2025, in Waukee, Iowa, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, dedication, and a passion for life. Born on August 4, 1943, in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska, Rob's journey was one of resilience and commitment, capturing the essence of a life well-lived.
Rob devoted a significant portion of his life to serving his country, proudly taking on the role of a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. His military service stood as a testament to his character, embodying the values of honor and duty that would remain with him throughout his life.
Following his military endeavors, Rob forged an impressive career at the Veterans Administration, where he served as Chief Financial Officer from 1972 until 1999. His work spanned multiple states, with positions held in Lincoln, NE, Waco, TX, Houston, TX, Jacksonville, AR, St. Petersburg, FL, and Des Moines, IA. His professional journey culminated as a trading specialist with Ameritrade, where he continued to share his financial acumen until his retirement in 2006.
Yet, it was not merely his accomplishments in his professional world that defined Rob; it was also the joy he found in life’s simpler pleasures. An avid sports enthusiast, he wore his love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers proudly, reveling in every victory and commiserating with fellow fans in times of defeat. His passion extended to the field as he took on the roles of both coach and referee in soccer, imparting his knowledge and love of the game to younger generations.
Music was another avenue through which Rob expressed himself. He curated an extensive record album collection that overflowed with classics from Steely Dan, the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, Jimmy Buffet, Bob Dylan, and many more. Each record was a window to cherished memories, resonating with the rhythm of a life filled with adventure, laughter, and love.
In June of 1966, Rob married the love of his life, Diane Jane Chadwell, in Omaha, a union that brought forth a family that became the core of his existence. Together, they nurtured a bond that transcended time, supported each other's dreams, and created a home filled with warmth and laughter. Rob is survived by his cherished wife, Diane J. Glenn, and their four adoring children: Lisa (Marc) G. Grimminger of Lincoln, NE, Bryce R. Glenn of Boise, ID, Julie G. (Steve) Palmer of Waukee, and Jennifer G. (Michael) Larson of Waukee. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Bryant Grimminger, Abi (Alex) Araya, Alyssa Larson, Ross and Grace Palmer, and Sammy and Brody Larson, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Rob also leaves behind a sister, Linda Grago of Omaha, NE. He joins the spirits of his beloved mother, Viola Preiner; father, Robert C. Glenn; and brothers Richard and Terry Glenn, who all preceded him in death.
