Waukee

Robert H. "Bob" Trissel, a devoted family man and a treasured member of the Waukee community, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Born on December 30, 1931, in Des Moines, Bob's life was marked by love, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to those he cherished.

A graduate of Lincoln High School in 1950, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marines from 1951 to 1953. His work ethic carried him through a dedicated career at SEARS for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he sought a “fun” job at Waukee Hardware, where he continued to touch the lives of many until health issues necessitated his departure in July 2024.

Bob was a man who adored his family deeply. He once mentioned that his children and grandchildren were the very reasons he wished to continue after the passing of his beloved wife, Beverly. Married on January 5, 1951, Beverly was the love of his life, and their bond was evident in every story he shared. He took immense joy in attending his grandchildren's activities, their accomplishments filling his heart with pride.

Over the years, Bob created countless memories, from fishing and camping adventures to cheering passionately for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. His love for Dachshunds brought him much joy as he welcomed many of these loyal companions into his home.

Bob’s commitment to hard work was complemented by his kind-hearted nature, making him both a respected colleague and a cherished friend. He was a long-time resident of Waukee, contributing to the community for over 50 years, where his legacy of service and kindness will be fondly remembered.

Bob is survived by his daughters: Vicki Henderson of Waukee; Sandy Swallow of Urbandale; and Jody (Bart) Weller of Waukee. His grandchildren include Allison (Tim) Smith, Jason Henderson, Natalie (Adam) Wilson, Autumn (Matt) Parrino, Mallory (Jacob) Cleveland, Cody (Deanna) Weller, and Macy (Jake) Rausch. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Noah (Karly) Henderson, Payton, Pryce, and Perri Smith, Jasper and Avery Wilson, Dominic and Giana Parrino, Landry and Braxton Cleveland, as well as Kendall and Harper Weller.

Bob is also survived by his brother, David Trissel, and sister, Nancy Biersma. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Trissel, his parents, Harry and Hazel Trissel, sons-in-law, Rick Henderson and Wes Swallow Jr., his granddaughter, Jadie Weller, and three siblings.

As we remember Bob, let us cherish the moments spent with him, his dedication to family, and the laughter he brought into our lives. A visitation will be held at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee on March 27, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Bob will be laid to rest at the Waukee Cemetery in a private family committal.

Memorial Donations may be made in Bob's memory to: EveryStep Hospice, 3000 Easton Blvd., #3, Des Moines, IA 50317.
