Michael Donald Davies, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Clive, Iowa on September 11, 2024, with his beloved wife Vicky by his side. Born on April 23, 1958, in Blue Island, Illinois, Michael's life was marked by a commitment to both his family and his profession as a skilled chemist and entrepreneur.
Michael dedicated his career to developing innovative solutions within the paint and dental industries. He worked diligently at a paint factory to create new and vibrant paint colors, showcasing his extraordinary creativity and technical expertise. Later, he contributed to a denture manufacturing company, where he helped create strong bonding agents that improved the quality and functionality of dental products. His perseverance and dedication to his craft were evident, and he also found joy as a business owner in sales, leveraging his remarkable interpersonal skills.
Known for his engaging personality, Michael was an excellent salesperson who loved to talk and never met a stranger. His friendly demeanor and ability to connect with others made him a beloved figure in both his personal and professional circles. Michael’s enthusiasm for life extended beyond work; in his earlier years, he was a wrestler and went on to become an avid runner, having competed in numerous marathons and races across the United States. Later in life, he developed a passion for golfing, which brought him great joy and relaxation. Michael's commitment to community was also exemplified through his role as a Sunday school teacher, imparting wisdom and guidance to others.
A devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, Michael's spirit was as vibrant as the colors he helped create. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Davies of Clive, Iowa; his daughter Danielle (Michael Chase) Davies of Denver, Colorado; his son Walter Davies of Clive; his mother Beverly Davies of Midlothian, Illinois; his sister Deidre Davies of Oak Forest, Illinois; his brother Daniel Davies of Norman, Oklahoma; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Preceding Michael in death were his father, Dale Davies, and his brother, Tim Davies. The legacy he leaves behind is one of love, creativity, and unwavering support from family and friends.
A memorial gathering to honor Michael's remarkable life will be held on September 14, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by refreshments at Ernst Funeral Home, located at 80 NE Dartmoor Drive, Waukee, Iowa. Michael's gathering will be live-streamed and can be viewed at 1:00 pm. or anytime thereafter via: www.facebook.com/ernstfuneralcremation. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life of this extraordinary individual whose warmth and kindness touched so many lives.
