Maureen Lynn Thompson, was born on November 5, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa. She gracefully departed this world on January 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Clive, Iowa. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of a woman who displayed unwavering love and devotion to those she held dear.
After graduating from Thurston High School in Thurston, Nebraska, as the Valedictorian of her class in 1966; she continued her education at Wayne State University, where she was proud to be on the Dean's List, embodying her commitment to excellence and perseverance. Her career path took her through several roles, beginning with an insurance company in Lincoln, Nebraska. After relocating to Onawa, she worked at a local dentist office, further showcasing her dedication and adaptability. Maureen then moved to Sergeant Bluff, taking on roles as a teller at Pioneer Bank, before ultimately retiring from Long Lines Telephone Company, where she left an indelible mark on colleagues and clients alike.
Maureen met the love of her life, Terry Glen Thompson, in 1968 and were united in marriage on June 7, 1969. Throughout her life, Maureen was a guiding light to her husband, whom Terry credits as the one who kept him going after his time in Vietnam. Her beloved children, Tricia (Shane Scott) Thompson-Scott of Adel, IA and Kelly Thompson of Colorado Springs, CO along with her cherished grandchildren: Bo Dean, Jaxon, and Evie, were Maureen's entire life and the love she had for them was never ending. Her vibrant spirit and nurturing nature defined her relationships with her family; she was never afraid to express her love or be their staunchest supporter.
Maureen’s journey was beautifully interrupted by moments of joy and family togetherness, where her fierce independence only fueled her ability to love deeply and generously. This remarkable woman, daughter of Morris J. and Cleone J. Kelly (both deceased), leaves behind a legacy of strength and a profound impact on the lives she touched.
