Marsha Gail Schmidt

Marsha Gail Schmidt, who was born to James L. and Mary F. (VanAuken) Barnes on June 17, 1956 in Sedalia, Missouri, passed away at the age of 62 on March 4, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

A memorial remembrance gathering will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee, IA.

Marsha was a long-time resident of Waukee.  Throughout her life, she worked as an Accountant, Election Official, U.S. Census Official, and an Investment Instructor. In her youth, Marsha excelled at drawing, sewing, bowling, archery, and racing cars.  She was an astute investor and master quilter while raising 2 children. In her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting and John Wayne movies.  Marsha always loved animals, especially her cats and grandpuppies.

Marsha leaves behind her son John (Samantha) Schmidt and granddaughter Sebastian Schmidt all of Waukee; daughter Shannon Schmidt of Ankeny; brothers Barry (Donna) Barnes of Sedalia, MO and Jeffrey (Rebecca) Barnes of Marshall, MO and numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
