Kay Jamison, a cherished member of the Waukee community, passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 86, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Born on December 26, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, Kay lived a life filled with love, community, and dedication to her family and friends.
A graduate of Van Meter High School, Kay's warm spirit and nurturing nature were evident from an early age. She married the love of her life, Fran Jamison, on November 2, 1958, at the Waukee United Methodist Church, sharing a partnership that became the foundation of their family.
Kay was a woman of many passions. She loved quilting and was an active member of the Waukee Needles and Thread Quilting Club, where her creativity and craftsmanship flourished. Gardening was another of her joys, and her involvement with the Waukee Garden Club enriched her appreciation of nature. Additionally, she found great fulfillment in crafting. Kay rarely missed a grandchild's sporting or school event, including their participation in 4H and FFA, proudly cheering them on and took great joy in spoiling them all.
Her dedication extended beyond her family; as she was profoundly involved in her community. Kay served as a 4H leader for over 20 years, shaping the lives of countless young people and imparting valuable skills and lessons. She was also active in various women's groups and church activities at the Booneville United Methodist Church, contributing greatly to the spiritual and social fabric of her community.
Kay is survived by her husband, Fran Jamison of Waukee; her son, Doug Jamison of Tabor, Iowa; her daughters, Deb (Brian) Larsen of Urbandale, and Deann (Dan) Baiza of Olathe, Kansas; her grandchildren, Gabbie Baiza, Hannah Borchardt, Jessi Burge, Jay Baiza, Matt Larsen, Alex Baiza, and Josh Wolfe; and her great-grandson, Townes Borchardt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Beatrice Reimann; her daughters, Kimberly Jamison and Dana Wolfe; and five siblings.
