Karl August Kaznok

Karl August Kanzok was born on November 16, 1928, in Wippendorf, Germany. He died on February 12, 2018, of respiratory failure. He generously donated his body to Des Moines University. Karl came from Germany to work with his Uncle in Marshalltown, IA., becoming a US Citizen on July 11, 1955. He was then accepted as an electrician apprentice with IBEW, Local 347, in Des Moines, graduating in 1960 as a Journeyman Wireman. He also served in the Air Force in Korea, earning a Good Conduct Medal. Karl worked as an electrician until his retirement in 1991; keeping busy doing chores for his neighbors and planting beautiful gardens. Preceding him in death: his life partner, Hannelore; Sister; Mother and Father. He is survived by his cousins Karin Sass and Marie Schmidt of Satrup, Germany. Karl will long be remembered for his quick wit, his kindness and generosity toward others. Those who knew Karl are invited to an open house to celebrate Karl's life. IBEW, Local 347 Union Hall; 850 18th Street (Des Moines) from noon until three on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
