Joan Marie Lipscomb

    Joan Marie Lipscomb, 84, of Waukee passed away on Wednesday December 7^th, 2022

    Joan was born to Frederick and Helen (Perry) Schmidt in Covington, Kentucky on September 4^th, 1938.  Joan spent time living in various cities in Ohio before moving to Iowa where she called Clive, West Des Moines, and Waukee home.

    Joan retired from Principal Financial group after 10 years of work.  Prior to that she was most importantly a wife, mother, and domestic engineer for most of her life.  Joan’s passion was her love for family and friends.  During her free time, she loved to sew and crochet, cook for family and friends, and was always doting over her grandchildren.  You would often find her following all their activities that she could. 

    Joan is survived by her daughter Joelle Kleihauer and husband Brad DeBoer of Waukee, grandson Mason Kleihauer and fiancé Elysha Eddy of Redfield, granddaughter Jenna Kleihauer of Indianola, sister Vivian Wehby of Florence, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews all across the country.  She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick Schmidt and Helen Perry, brothers Tommy, Marvin, Raymond, Larry, and Phillip Schmidt, and sisters Shirley Ewing, Mary Ellen Frisch, and Audrey Barnhill-Steele.
