Jennifer Rae Long

Jennifer Rae Long, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 17, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on June 24, 1976, in Des Moines, Iowa and spent most of her life residing in Waukee, where she graduated from Waukee High School in 1997.

Jennifer’s vibrant spirit was matched only by her passions. A devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, she brought an infectious enthusiasm to every football season, cheering on her beloved team. Her love for music was profound; as she found joy in the enchanting melodies of artists like Katy Perry, Madonna, and Aerosmith.

Her talents extended beyond sports and music as she held a special fondness for collecting turtles and sea turtles, which became a cherished symbol of her playful and nurturing spirit. Jennifer's home was a reflection of her vibrant character, filled with warmth, laughter, and countless memories.

Jennifer's legacy lives on through her children, whom she adored deeply: Brandon Ellsworth and Devin Ellsworth of Waukee, and from her union with Jeremy Long, Ashlin and Tate Long of Van Meter. Each of them carries a piece of their mother’s heart and spirit with them, a testament to her unwavering love and support. She also leaves behind her sister, Michelle Miller, who will cherish the bond they shared throughout their lives. Jennifer is preceded in death by her mother, Laurie McCall Anderson, and her step-father, Bob Anderson.

As we celebrate Jennifer’s life, we remember not only the tender moments and laughter that filled her days but also the profound impact she had on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and light that will guide us through the days to come.

Jennifer has been cremated.  No services are planned at this time.  Ernst Funeral and Cremation Services of Waukee has been entrusted with Jennifer's final arrangements.
