Irlene Johnson

Anna Irlene Johnson, who was born on January 20, 1923 in Adrian, Missouri to Samuel Irl and Anna Elizabeth (Richmiller) Sweet, passed away on November 13, 2019 in Winterset, Iowa.  Visitation will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee.  Graveside Services will be Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at the Booneville Cemetery in Booneville, Iowa.

Irlene married the love of her life, Richard Joseph Johnson on October 22, 1939.  Irlene worked at the DeSoto Diner and helped maintain the farm and household.  She enjoyed cooking, which could be seen by the number of hungry mouthes she fed at her table over the years.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading her drug store romance novels.  Her children, grandson and great-grandchildren were her life and she cherished her time with them.

Irlene is survived by her son Richard (Betty) Johnson of Delta, CO; grandson Dan (Jess) Adams of Pella, IA; great-grandchildren Samantha, Macie and Joseph; sisters Dorothy Hauck of Kellogg, IA and Marjorie Boyd of St. Charles, IA and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; daughter Vickie Adams and grandson Michael Johnson.
