Igor Victorovich Begunov

Igor Victorovich Begunov, a dedicated and esteemed medical professional, passed away on December 19, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. Born on May 16, 1950, in Yekaterinburg, Russia, Igor's journey was marked by a deep commitment to his profession and an unwavering love for his family.

Igor graduated with his doctorate degree from Ural State Medical University in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 1973. He commenced his career as an oncologist at a local oncology clinic, where he spent 15 years caring for patients. Afterward, he specialized in endoscopy, demonstrating his continuous pursuit of knowledge and the highest standards of medical practice for over three decades.

Igor was married to Natalia Kovaleva on November 1, 1979, and they shared a loving partnership that lasted for years. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their family. Igor took great pride in his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Natalia Begunova of Waukee, Iowa; daughter Anna Donnelly of Waukee, Iowa; son Ivan Begunov of Yekaterinburg, Russia; granddaughters Elsa and Esme Donnelly of Waukee; and grandson Ilia Begunov of Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Beyond his professional life, Igor cherished his time outdoors, indulging in skiing, hiking, and traveling. He deeply valued the moments spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Igor was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Begunov and Elena Gumennikova. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, love for his family, and the countless lives he touched throughout his life.
