Gary "Chop" Dale Sayre, 53 of Waukee, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.
A Memorial Remembrance Gathering will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home (80 NE Dartmoor Drive) in Waukee.
Chop was born to Bob and Juanita (Williams) Sayre on July 23, 1965 in Livingston, Montana. Chop grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Hoover High School. He went on to marry the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sherri Beretta, on September 6, 1986. Chop, along with his father, owned and operated Interstate Automotive & Collision for a number of years. He most recently owned Chop's Old Bank on the downtown triangle in Waukee.
Chop loved fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada, Minnesota and South Dakota. His grandchildren were his life and he loved spending as much time with them as he could. He will be missed by the numerous friends he met over the years and most recently through the bar.
Chop is survived by his wife Sherri; children Kyle (Ashley Beck) of St. Charles and Amber of Dallas Center; grandchildren Wyatt, Hayden, Ian, Jaydan, Eleanor and another on the way; sisters Cindy (Wade) Smith and Christy (Lonnie) Baer; parents-in-law John & Sally Beretta and Lee & Lois Bair; sisters-in-law Kris (Rex) Kelly, Amy (TJ) McCarthy and Lynn Beretta and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed towards the family.
