Denman Monroe Jarvis

Denman Monroe Jarvis, who was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 4, 1943, passed away at the VA Medical Center, CLC on January 4, 2018. A remembrance gathering and visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ernst Funeral Home in Waukee. Interment will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.

After graduating from Norwalk High School, Denman enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS WASP CVS18. On March 14, 1969, he married the love of his life Jaxene Duke in Norwalk. Denman worked as a Book Binder throughout his working life. He was a DAV lifetime member who served as State and Chapter 20 Chaplain. Denman enjoyed woodworking, bible study and listening to music.

Denman is survived by his loving wife Jaxene of Ankeny, IA; children Jackie (Doug) Sullens of Coloma, MI, Kathy (Bob) Kimzey of Milo, IA and Bob (Lana) Jarvis of Ames, IA; siblings Wendol (Jan) Jarvis of Overland Park, KS, Wayne (Cheryl) Jarvis of Des Moines, IA, Gwen (Gary) Strong of Des Moines, IA and Mike Jarvis of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice Jarvis, brother Ralph Jarvis, sister Mary Carter and nephews John and Billy Jarvis.
