Cleo Darlene Dunkerson (Coverdell) passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Adel, Iowa. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Graceland Cemetery Chapel in Creston, Iowa.
Cleo was born June 7, 1922 in Beaconsfield, IA to Charles Edward and Fletitia Florine (Mason) Coverdell. On September 7, 1946, she married the love of her life Dewey Dean Dunkerson. Cleo retired from Gits Mfg. in Creston, Iowa..
Cleo was known for her green thumb, which could be seen by her beautiful house plants and garden. She enjoyed cooking, especially for large holiday family gatherings and always went all out at Christmas with her cookies and candies. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles. Cleo had a fond love for her pets and all animals. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren whom she loved playing cards with and attending their numerous events.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Danny; daughter Debbie and granddaughter Cara. She is survived by children Duane (Joseli) of Olympia, WA, David of Waukee, IA, Denise Hayes of Des Moines, IA and Diane (Keith) Gutschenritter of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Mark (Kelly) Hayes Jr., Dawn Hayes, Brad Hayes, Todd Gutschenritter, Chad Gutschenritter and Julia Alves-Dunkerson; great-grandchildren Leo, Hayden and Guthrie Hayes; sister Retha (Coverdell) Bender of Fenton, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
