Christopher Tyrone Patterson, 50, passed away after a courageous battle with MPNST Cancer, on Sunday, October 24, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Waukee, IA.
Chris was born and raised in Miami, Florida and while attending Miami Springs High School, he met the love of his life, Shade' Rasheed. After graduation, Chris went on to attend Kansas State University where he played football for the legendary Coach Bill Snyder. He pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and went on to graduate with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and also earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
Chris would go on to marry his high school sweetheart, Shade', on September 28, 2003. His long, successful career in Court Services took him and his family to Kansas, Georgia, and most recently Iowa.
Chris adored his family and cherished the time spent with them. Together they were usually always on the go being part of his daughter’s traveling softball team. The term “Everybody Loves Chris” took on a special meaning in describing Chris as he was always the “go-to guy” for his neighbors, friends, and family. He had a big heart that could be seen by way of serving and helping others through his dedication, compassion, and friendly shoulder. He had a listening ear and was always available to listen and provide counsel. Chris had enormous faith. He truly was a faithful servant of Christ and looked forward to receiving his heavenly reward.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Shade' of Waukee; children Amira James of Chattanooga, TN and Kobe and Zuri Patterson of Waukee; aunt Ella Mae Roberson of Miami, FL; siblings Gregory (Pamela) Patterson of Atlanta, GA, Venetta (Johnnie) Patterson of Miami, FL, Timothy (Dhanmatie) Laster of Hollywood, FL, Delilah Patterson of Tampa, FL, Alexander (Dawyn) Patterson of Tampa, FL, and Artis (April) Patterson, Jr. of Orlando, FL, and numerous friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Delores (Baker) Laster.
