Charles E Dove III

Charles "Charlie" E. Dove III, who was born to Charles E. and Mary Jeanette (Minnis) Dove Jr. on September 14, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, passed away at the age of 75 at MercyOne West Lakes Medical Center in West Des Moines, IA on October 7, 2019.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., both at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee.  Father Vince Rosonke will be officiating.  Interment to follow at the Waukee Cemetery.

Charlie married the love of his life, Barbara Buchheit on June 12, 1965.  Charlie retired from the Des Moines Police Department after 31 years of service.  He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was member of the Iowa Peace Officers Association, the Waukee American Legion Post No. 737 and St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Charlie enjoyed working on cars, scooters and really anything with wheels.  His favorite role was being "Papa" to his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Charlie is survived by his wife Barb of Waukee; children Jennie (Dennis) Dove-Deerr of West Des Moines and James Dove of Urbandale; grandchildren Amanda, Natalie, Meri, Skyler and Alena Deerr, Courtney and Trinity Dove and Logan Quinn and sisters Linda Hanson of Omaha, NE and Connie (Chris) Castilleja of Albuquerque, NM.  He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Jeff Heiden.
